The emotions are riding high with this Health Care/Health Insurance topic. It definitely is a barn burner issue. The present system people have said – it’s all about money and greed. This report does not support either side of the overheated issues but remains neutral. Our interests are to help those who are overweight to regain their health.
We need to get at the core of issue asking – Why is it there are so many sick people in America? We have been trained and used as consumers to eat all sorts of unhealthy food. Yes a much better term is junk food, processed food, high-fat food and high-sugar and salt foods etc. We have become accustomed to take poor care of ourselves. It is a shame that Americans are predominately over weighting, obese or morbidly obese.
That is what the health statistics are telling us and nobody especially the overweight is willing to listen. We drive everywhere and sit around most of the day. Exercise is almost a bad word today and poor attitudes about our own health are evident. We as a nation are polluting our families and ourselves in overweight conditions. Are the Health Care/Health Insurance groups picking on the overweight for just no reason at all? The answer is NO!
Why is health care so expensive in America, and so ineffective? The health care statistics show that we consume too many corrective drugs. What? Too many corrective drugs? Yes too much on and emergency medicine instead of preventative measures. What about the highest selling and most expensive pharmaceuticals that are designed to balance the high cholesterol and cardiac problems experienced by many. The largest group of expensive pharmaceuticals users is the overweight.
One recent study estimated that 50 percent of the increase in health care spending over the past 20 years could be attributed to the soaring rate of obesity, a condition that now accounts for a tenth of all spending on health care. Normal weight people are living longer and now over the age of 90. However the surveys and studies show that the overweight are living shorter lives. The overweight have earlier deaths due to overweight health problems and unnecessary overweight developed diseases.
Can you imagine a whopping $602 billion was spent worldwide on drugs alone in 2006? The US was responsible for the most spent with $252 billion according to Forbes Magazine. Also in the top ten of al drugs sales are those for symptoms of high blood pressure. Also disturbing is the fact that none of these drugs actually cure the problems. Plenty of money is spent on emergency medical procedures for obesity. The health dollar in America spends $147 billion to treat obesity.
More than $116 billion to treat overweight with developed diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Then here and now enters the overweight with many types of cancer. Yes all due to our extremely poor diet habits consisting of fast foods and processed foods. The overweight have really got to make some changes. The overweight are breaking the bank and actually killing themselves as the body cannot continually take the abuse. This is not all about the health care system but rather about us. Let’s start now and eat healthier foods, less food, and get moving physically.
